DEIB is Not About the Law

DEIB is not about the law; it is about humanity, how we value and treat each other, and the norms of society. Laws are not the same as societal norms. Laws mandate (“shall”) or prohibit (“shall not”) certain actions.

DEIB is holistic, educating and helping others to adopt behaviors and practices that result in an environment where everyone is included and feels like they belong. DEIB is necessary to foster a national culture that values these behaviors and practices. Only then will America be able to deliver on its promise of equality for all; laws alone have not and will not accomplish this.
